 | On April 15-17, 2011 the V Martial Arts Olympics "East-West Open" took place in St.-Petersburg, Russia. The Sport Martial Arts League Team has won 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in Karate Competitions. |
On April 15-17, 2011 the 5th Martial Arts Olympics “East-West Open” took place in St.-Petersburg, Russia, on the basis of the Sports-Concert Complex “Peterburgsky”. More than 8,5 thousands sportsmen from 54 countries participated in 35 kinds of martial arts competitions.
Again organizers have presented a gift to participants and all spectators. At the beginning of traditional Budo-show, which finishing the opening ceremony of Martial Arts Olympics “East-West Open”, Master Ramil Gabbasov (5th Dan in Kyokushinkai) with one blow has broken some ice blocks (total weight 1500 kg). Thereby he has established a new Record of Guinness.
The program of 5th Martial Arts Olympics “East-West Open” included such kinds of competitions as: Karate (Point fighting), Karate (WKF), Karate (WKC), Karate (WKU), Free competitive sports complexes (Kata) of Japanese styling, Kobudo, Grappling, Full contact free style (MMA), Okinawa style Karate, Taekwondo (WTF), Taekwondo (ITF), Myathlon of self defense, Kumdo, Wushu, Combat Sambo, Hand-to-hand fighting, Kyokushinkai, Thai boxing, Speed breaking, Capoera, Knife throwing, Cyber fighting, Cossacs hand-to-hand fighting (RUBKA) etc.
For the first time on the Martial Arts Olympics have arrived 45 fighters of Cossack Martial Arts Don Army Federation "Pernach". Cossacks actively revive traditions of grandfathers. Martial art, character development in fight and possession of the weapon they put to the first place. Cossack Jigitovka – masterly art of possession by a sabre – was pleasant to all spectators, and in Cossacks hand-to-hand fighting (RUBKA) have taken part not only Cossacks fighters, but also sportsmen from some Russian regions and even Tajikistan, Hungary and Iran.
The Sport Martial Arts League Team from Belarus headed by GM Alexander Maltabarov participated in 5 kinds of program. As a result Sport Martial Arts League Team has won 9 medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze) in Karate competitions: ● Tatiana Timoshina – gold medal in Individual Female Kumite, age 14-15 years, -60 kg, Karate (WKU); ● Vladimir Timoshin – gold medal in Individual Male Kumite, age 14-15 years, -65 kg, Karate (WKU); ● Nadezhda Logach – silver medal in Individual Female Kumite, age 14-15 years, +54 kg, Karate (WKF); silver medal in Individual Female Kumite, age 14-15 years, -60 kg, Karate (WKU); ● Irina Druts - silver medal in Individual Female Kumite, age 18+ years, -68 kg, Karate (WKF); bronze medal in Individual Female Kumite, age 18+ years, -65 kg, Karate (WKU); ● Eduard Chernyak - silver medal in Individual Male Kumite, age 16-17 years, -76 kg, Karate (WKF); ● Denis Kostyushko - bronze medal in Individual Male Kumite, age 12-13 years, -40 kg, Karate (Point Fighting); ● Kirill Kripa - bronze medal in Individual Male Kumite, age 14-15 years, +60 kg, Karate (Point Fighting);
